I don’t know where I’d be without finding Grown. Owned by Shannon Allen (wife of two-time NBA Champion Ray Allen), Grown was founded to make healthy choices the easier option, especially for their son, Walker, who has type-1 diabetes. Grown is incredible for people with food allergies, as everything can be prepared separately using the Allergen Saf-T0Zone System. My absolute favorite dish here is Grown’s Panko Crusted Chicken Tenders) totally aware it’s on the kid’s menu), which is gluten-free, dairy free, soy-free, and nut-free. Grown gets Cody’s FREAKIN’ AMAZING allergy-friendly five thumbs up.

Pizza Fusion was the first pizza place I was able to safely eat at - ever. I fell so in love with its gluten-free pizza that I ended up working for them for many years while at Cypress Bay just to get free pizza (and the experience, of course)! My go-to at Pizza Fusion is a large gluten-free pizza with red sauce, spinach, chicken, and tri-color peppers (and my parents love to throw on the dairy-free Dahiya cheese). Pizza Fusion also has allergy-friendly brownies that are to die for. Pizza Fusion gets Cody’s FREAKIN’ AMAZING allergy-friendly five thumbs up.

Chipotle has been my personal life-saver when traveling across the country with food allergies, as chipotle is just about everywhere. Always make sure to ask the crew members to get their ingredients from the back. My all-time favorite meal at Chipotle is a burrito bowl with white rice, black beans, chicken, medium salsa, corn salsa, and guacamole! As always, Chipotle gets Cody’s FREAKIN’ AMAZING allergy-friendly four thumbs up.

The only reason for the four-thumb rating is because Chipotle is a fast-food chain, which means there are more chances for cross-contact when not paying careful attention.

Fresh First has made going to Fort Lauderdale Beach beyond special to me. Fresh Fist is both gluten-free and peanut free, making it a safe-haven for those with food allergies and celiac disease. The staff is extremely aware of food allergies, and they will go out of their way to make sure you are accommodated. Breakfast is hard for those with food allergies, but my personal favorite at Fresh First is actually a breakfast-item- gluten-free pancakes with maple syrup and blueberries. Fresh First gets Cody’s FREAKIN’ AMAZING allergy-friendly, five thumbs up.
