Time to File Homestead Exemption

It is now time to file for your 2019 Homestead Exemption if you have not already done so. You are entitled to a Homestead Exemption if, as of January 1st, you have made the property your permanent home or the permanent home of a person who is legally or naturally dependent on you. By law, January 1 of each year is the date on which permanent residence is determined. You can file online at www.BCPA.net. There is a yellow button in the Upper Left Hand Corner. Just click on this button and it will take you through the process. You can also file in person at the location below:

To File, You must have the following documents showing you reside at the property;

 - Broward Voter's Card or recorded Declaration of Domicile (form available at their office on on their website at www.BCPA.net)

Includes record search, forms, FAQs, and background on current appraiser.

 - Florida Driver's License (or for non-drivers only, an official Florida I.D. Card)

 - For Non U.S. Citizens; Permanent Resident Card, proof of asylum/refugee status, or other documentation from Immigration showing your intent to be a permanent resident of the United States).

 The Filing Period for Timely Filing for 2019 is March 1, 2019. The Absolute Deadline to late File for 2019 is September 18, 2019.

It is Extremely Important to File for your Homestead Exemption for Yearly Property Tax Savings and for the "Save our Home" (SOH) 3% Value Assessment Cap.
